(not included) *LED power by 4 x AAA batteries (not included) *LCD screen powered by 2 x AG13 batteries (included). to clarify, the 2 x AG13 batteries power the actual clock including the lcd screen. you can power the led light with either a power adapter or four aaa batteries. the power adapter will not power the clock itself. some clocks are powered by an adapter and have batteries as a backup, but this is not the case for this clock as i expected. the lcd... It may look like a rubber silicone clock on the pic, but this thing is only made of milky white plastic. But what may look underwhelming from the outside is offset by its coolness factor. It has color changing LED display which is amplified multiple times in the dark. Even my wife who seldom side with me on stuff I buy likes it. Inexpensive too for under five bucks.It requires two AG13 button batteries (included) for the time/clock, and 4 four AAAs batteries for the LEDs (not included). It is good to have two set of batteries, otherwise if the LED loses its batteries, the clock will still be on time. The LEDs has the following three settings: Demo, always on, and off. I put it on off not only to preserve the batteries, but you don't actually need the lights to be on all the time since all you have to do is tap the clock and it will do a cycle of color display for a few seconds, enough...
